Wolfsburg vs Bayern Munich Prediction & Betting Tips (25 August)

Often cited among the candidates for Europe at the start of the Bundesliga season, this Wolfsburg team ranked quite clearly among the disappointments of the last year. The WfL even had to pull itself together in the last few days in order to avoid being relegated and it finally took 12th place with a limited lead of only 4 points over the play-off, Bochum. This year, Ralph Hasenhüttl's men will be expected higher in order to regain a status that better suits them. Average in preparation with only one victory in 5 matches, the Wolves ended with two draws conceded against Como 0-0 and Brentford 4-4 but they were able to get the better of Koblenz 0-1 during the first round of the Cup from Germany last week. For their part, Bayern Munich ended up falling from their pedestal last year after spending a good dozen years at the top of the German football hierarchy.

The Munich residents were in fact overtaken both by the invincible Bayer Leverkusen but also by the surprise Stuttgart in the standings and they therefore had to settle for 3rd place. Now under the leadership of Vincent Kompany who has come to replace Thomas Tuchel, the Bavarians will of course be serious candidates to try to get their hands back on the Meisterschale at the end of the season. Winners of 4 of their 5 summer preparation matches including one against Tottenham 2-3 and another against Wattens 3-0, the Munich players left Ulm no chance last Friday in the first round of the German Cup.

Wolfsburg made some adjustments to its squad this summer. Number 1 goalkeeper Casteels (Al-Qadsiah), defensive midfielder Franjic (Shakhtar Donetsk, loan), striker Waldschmidt (Cologne), and right winger Cerny (Glasgow Rangers, loan) notably set sail. In the opposite direction, the Wolves were able to attract the goalkeeper Grabara (Copenhagen), the attacker Amoura (Union Saint-Gilloise, loan), the promising Dardai (Hertha Berlin) and the young defender Angély who arrives from Bordeaux. Loaned last year, full-back Cozza (Nantes) and striker Bialek (Eupen) are back. Last year, Danish striker Wind (11 goals, 7 assists) was the only one to survive offensively, far ahead of former Rennais Majer (5 goals, 5 assists). Bayern Munich also downsized this summer by sending away the defensive executives of Ligt (Manchester United) and Mazraoui (Manchester United) as well as the promising midfielder Tillman (PSV Eindhoven).

Furthermore, the relatively little used Bouna Sarr and Choupo-Moting were not extended and the young Kratzig (Stuttgart), Adu (Unterhaching), Sieb (Mainz), Zvonarek (Sturm Graz), Wanner (Heidenheim) and Krattenmacher ( Ulm) were all loaned for the season. Conversely, the Munich residents have set their sights on young Frenchman Olise (Crystal Palace), defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha (Fulham) and defender Ito (Stuttgart). Loaned last year, right-back Stanisic (Bayer Leverkusen) and wingers Vidovic (Dinamo Zagreb) and Ibrahimovic (Frosinone) are back. The captains like the top scorer Kane (36 goals, 8 assists) and the wingers Sané (8 goals, 11 assists), Coman (3 goals, 3 assists), and Musiala (10 goals, 6 assists) are still there. Same thing for the aging Müller (5 goals, 9 assists) and the promising Tel (7 goals, 5 assists).
