Fiorentina vs Monza Prediction & Betting Tips (1 September)

For several seasons now, Fiorentina has positioned itself as a potential outsider in European places. Last year, the Tuscans met expectations by taking 8th place in Serie A, synonymous with qualification for the Conference League play-offs. In the championship, the Viola got off to a sluggish start. Opposed to promoted teams during the first two days, Fiorentina had to be content with sharing the points at Parma 1-1 before being held to a draw at home by Venice last weekend 0-0. Entering a new dimension in 2018 following the takeover of the club by the Berlusconi group, Monza appeared within the elite in 2022 and has therefore just completed the first two seasons of its history in Serie A. The Lombard team displayed great promises with an 11th place in 2023 52 points and a slightly more difficult 12th place last year 45 points. This summer, Alessandro Nesta sat on the bench and succeeded Raffaele Palladino who joined.

..Fiorentina. The objective is to permanently establish Monza among the elite. The start turned out to be sluggish with a draw at Empoli 0-0 and a loss at home against Genoa last weekend 0-1. A week before the start of the championship, Monza had great difficulty dismissing Sudtirol Serie B in the Italian Cup 0-0, qualifying following penalties. 

For Fiorentina, the important offensive recruit Gudmundsson is still missing, on the flank. On the other hand, defender Pongracic is back from suspension. Returning from his loan to Manchester United, Moroccan international Amrabat has regained his place in the midfield. In the absence of Gudmundsson, it is Kean who could still start up front. This summer, Fiorentina was unable to retain senior defender Milenkovic (Nottingham Forest) and influential winger Nico Gonzalez (Juventus). Other elements have left the club such as midfielders Bonaventura (Al-Shabab), Duncan (Venice) and Castrovilli (Lazio) or even striker Nzola (Lens). In the opposite direction, the Viola was strengthened with the arrivals of goalkeeper De Gea, defenders Pongracic (Lecce) and Valentini (Boca Juniors), midfielders Richardson (Reims) and Adli (AC Milan) and attackers Kean (Juventus ), Gudmundsson (Genoa) and Colpani (Monza).

On the Monza side, goalkeeper Cragno, piston Ciurria and midfielders Sensi and Machin are forced to withdraw. Alessandro Nesta looking for the right formula in the offensive area but the team did not score a goal in its first 3 games of the season. Already loaned out of the club last season, full-back Carlos Augusto (Inter) has left Monza for good. Also leaving during the off-season were the excellent goalkeeper Di Gregorio (Juventus) and the striker Colpani (Fiorentina) as well as the hopeful Popovic (Naples). In the opposite direction, Monza was not very active but we can still point out the lower-cost arrivals of Kyriakopoulos (Sassuolo), Forson (Manchester United), Maldini (AC Milan), Sensi (Inter) and Turati (Sassuolo).
