Tottenham vs Newcastle Prediction & Betting Tips (4 January)

Usually a member of the Big 4 in the Premier League, Tottenham is disappointing this season by only being 11th in the standings. The Spurs are 6 points behind the top 6, synonymous with European qualification. In difficulty recently, they have lost 4 of their last 5 matches: against Bournemouth 1-0, Chelsea 3-4 , Liverpool 3-6 and Nottingham Forest 0-1 on Boxing Day, despite a big victory against Southampton 5-0. After two consecutive losses, they snatched a disappointing draw against the relegated Wolves 2-2 last weekend.

The Magpies, irregular in the Premier League, seem to have regained their momentum. After a series of 4 games without a win, 2 draws, 2 defeats, they had convincing successes against Leicester 4-0, Brentford 3-1, Ipswich 0-4, and recently against Aston Villa 3-0. The clash against Manchester United at the start of the week will be crucial to aim for the top 6, the Magpies currently occupying 7th place, one point behind Bournemouth. 

Spurs face many key absences, including their main goalkeeper Vicario as well as starting defenders Romero and Van de Ven. The less frequently featured Davies, Odobert and Richarlison will also miss this match. Spence is suspended, but Dragusin, starting central defender, is back.

On the other hand, the main offensive assets, like Son (5 goals, 6 assists in PL), Maddison (8 goals, 4 assists in PL), Kulusevski (5 goals, 4 assists in PL), Johnson (7 goals in PL) and Solanke (6 goals, 3 assists in PL), are available and are having a good season from an accounting standpoint.
